Description
Very old rare unused radio antenna kit as shown originally sold by Sears Roebuck co.Catalog no 5552
All wave doublet antenna system (for American and Foreign standard and short wave broadcast)
We are not sure of age but guessing 1920s or 1930s?
Please zoom in on pictures to see what is included:
2 coils of 30 ft enameled aerial wire
4 porcelain insulators center and end
1 porcelain triangle
1 50 ft twisted pair weatherproof lead in wire (CLOTH CABLE)
4 Eyehook bakelite standoff insulators
1 little eye hook
1 window duplex lead in strip (flat conductors to pinch under window sash)
1 ground clamp (for water pipe?)
1 10 ft rubber coated ground wire
1 instruction paper with diagram
1 bits of original box as shown, brittle
Condition is as shown old, no guarantees other than you get what is in pictures. No returns, please look at pictures!
2 rolls of Enamel wire are good
50 ft "weatherproofed" Cloth wire- the exposed rubber wire is cracking where it was not covered by cloth outer wrap at the insulator end, but I peeled back cloth a half inch on other end, and the rubber wires still look good and flexible. The rest of the cloth wire roll still feels flexible too, and seems to have a wax coating, which may have helped protect internal rubber insulated wires from exposure (other than the short exposed end where it became brittle) , so some or all of the roll may still be usable as 2 conductor cloth wax wire, but no guarantees since we cannot cut it open to check every foot of it , good for display wiring too of other radio projects.
10 ft Ground wire rubber is cracked
Ground clamp has surface rust.
Orig box is just some pieces as shown (we will pack all in a good box)
Selling as you see it , only what is shown is included, hope it ends up in a museum or something cool!
