Custom Fighting Knife - 1972 Jere Hammond - Vietnam Era, Puma White Hunter Style

This is a really great custom-made (possibly theatre-made) Vietnam-era fighting knife that is in the style of the Puma white hunter knife. It is a very heavy-duty fixed-blade fighting knife that was expertly made. It is stamped "
1972
" on one side and "
Jere Hamnd
" on the other. I assume his last name was
Hammond
but after he got the
Ham
, he must have realized that he wouldn't be able to fit the rest of the characters on the blade so he shortened it. I was not able to find any information online of Jere Hammond or Hamnd.
The knife measures 10.75" long in total length with a 6" blade. It has stag handle with handmade brass 6-sided nuts. The handguard is very thick and made of solid brass. It has a serrated back edge and a very thick flattened spot on top of the blade for batoning (hammering on when splitting wood). There are no cracks in the handles. This is the ultimate fighting / survival / bushcraft knife.
It comes with the original heavy-duty leather sheath that is in excellent condition (still nice and soft). It has a leather strap that goes around the handle and another strap that goes diagonally across the handguard.
A beautiful example of a great fighting knife.
