Echium oil contains the perfect balance of omega 3, 6 and 9, plus Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) and Stearidonic Acid (SA). It’s the latter that really sets it apart from its rivals; content of SA can be up to 14% in echium oil, overshadowing all other vegetable oils by a long way. The closest contender is Black Currant Seed Oil with a comparatively paltry 3%. SA reduces skin inflammation and has been found to inhibit the action of an enzyme. The omega fats and GLA work to rebuild and strengthen a weak skin barrier when topically applied, filling in gaps in the epidermis to prevent water loss from the skin. Studies have shown that when regularly applied to the skin, echium oil can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin texture
