    Description

F.E.Olds & Sons, Los Angeles, Calif. Ambassador Cornet SN 56543 (1950). Condition is Used, AS IS.
    This
    F.E.Olds & Sons, Ambassador
    Cornet
was made in Los Angeles, Calif. (as stamped on the bell) in 1950, though it is slightly possible to be 1951, which I doubt.
    The serial number is
    56543
    giving me the date.
I have had it for 24 years, and have kept it as it is. The last time I heard it, the sound was good. It is the beauty of this cornet on display in my office that you will enjoy in your home or office.

This is a rare instrument that fetches upwards of ,000.00. It
    does not
    come with a case, and
    does not
come with a mouth piece. It does need some work if you wish to play it and not display it as is.
Here are a few things that do need to be done by you should you want:
    Re-lacquer and work out dents
Third valve sticks badly, and has non-original finger pad
    Re-weld joints
Re-cork finger pads and spit valves
Valves one and two work well, but could be better. The spit valves work fine. All four tuning slides work well. The lyre clamp is intact, complete, and works well. The bell is in quite good shape for 70 years-old and no case. I know the investment would net me a good return in online auctions, but I have other things now to do.

    condition sale.
