Fab Pair Antique Gorham Sterling Silver Travel Beaker Cups in Leather Case
Presented is a fabulous pair of antique Gorham sterling silver travel cups, with
original fitted leather carrying case. These cups date to circa 1900. The cups
are made in a very handsome and classical beaker shape, with a gold wash
interior so they are ideal for liquor or pretty much whatever you might want to
drink, and each cup has a capacity of about 4 fluid ounces or 118 milliliters.
The leather case has clearly done its job of protecting the cups.
The cups are in excellent overall condition. The gold wash of the interior is
in great shape. There are a couple of tiny pinprick dings to the underside of
one cup but this is only visible from the underside. There are no dents, no
splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The leather case is
in as is condition, please view the photos and be aware there is wear to the
leather and the strap/snap on the top is broken.
Each cup is stamped with the maker's mark for Gorham as well as sterling, the
product number A5270 and a retail mark for Foster & Co, Boston.
Each cup stands about 2 7/8 inches tall at the rim and measures about 2 1/2
inches in diameter at the mouth. The case is about 4 1/8 inches tall and about 3
inches wide.
The total weight for the two cups (weighable silver, not including the case)
is 99 grams or 3.5 regular ounces.
