Description
The Martin Committee, an instrument with an unusual name, earned its name by being designed by a committee (Renold Schilke always claimed the horn was designed by a committee of one, him). It went on to dominate the jazz trumpet market from the late 1940s until the mid 1960s or so. Committees were played by Miles Davis throughout his career, as well as Chet Baker, Dizzy Gillespie, Maynard Ferguson, and even Al Hirt.This cornet plays well. all the slides and valves move fine and work well. The serial number is 172818. It was built 1951-1952 in Elkhart Ind, USA. It has typical wear, and scratches on the lacquer on various parts of the horn. comes with black gig bag, it has the original Martin mouthpiece, lyre, and third valve slide ring. see all photos, sold as is.
