Sterling silver cup (5.25 ounces) by Whiting Manufacturing Company. Repouse patters. Double scroll hollow
handle. Marked 2712E. This cup was given to me in 1947 by my Fraternal Grandmother when she lived in Quincy, Massachusetts. The maker's mark has been rubbed nearly off, so I included a photo of a clearer mark from another piece.
[Whiting's origins date back to 1840 when Tifft & Whiting was founded by Albert C. Tiffy and William Dean Whiting.
After several partnership changes, Whiting Manufacturing Company was founded in 1866, in North Attleboro, Massachusetts.
They worked primarily in silver until the company was absorbed by Gorham in 1926.]
