  • Condition: Super Nice Clean Estate Fresh Condition. I gently cleaned the case and as you can see its in fantastic condition for its age. I have very little understanding of the electrical workings of old radios , its being sold As You See It - Untested. This was most likely a home built radio kit. Cosmetically it would be hard to find one any nicer. No Issues that I see. The inside is as clean as you could find. Please ask all questions prior to purchase. You get what you see. Make your own assessments. The bakelite knobs and dials are in excellent shape with no damages. The receiver is Untested and sold as such. I have some tubes that are noted in the Item Description, they are untested. Selling it AS IS . Not sure if it needs anything more than a battery. Read the Item Description for other details. Some of the tube boxes are empty and some tubes are in the wrong box. I have a list in the description.
  • Home Built Receiver Kit 1920s Era: Comes with Tubes and Extras

    Description

I have up for sale a wonderful vintage circa 1920s Era Home Made Kit Radio . I was told that it looks like a
Tuned Radio Frequency (TRF) radio with a regenerative detector. The 2 large dials control the RF amplifiers and the small knob between them (controlling a rotating coil) adjusts the regenerative detector.  It is homemade. Probably built around 1925-1926.
There were some instruction sheets inside the cabinet. They are for a Browning-Drake Circuit  Five Tube Screen Grid Receiver. I am not sure if they are for this receiver but they may be.
The receiver has a Karas Harmonik Audio Frequency Transformer and a Tube that I can not identify.
In the side storage sections there are 6 other tubes . There are two  UX-201-A tubes, one UX-112, one CX 300-A, one ,one CX-301-A ,and one UX 199. Some of these are in the wrong boxes. I also have approx 4 or 5 empty tube boxes. Included is a BEEDE METER Volt Ammeter. A Steinite Interference eliminator .
The cabinet is in Excellent Condition and the brownish bakelite knobs and dials are in outstanding shape. I gently oiled the case otherwise its as found. No Damages and any wear is very light. For its age and type the cabinet is in superb shape.
It's a big cabinet , measures approx 39" long by 13.5" deep by approx 10-5/8" tall, weighs approx 31 lbs.
It came with some instruction sheets for a Browning - Drake receiver so maybe its a Browning-Drake receiver kit. I do not know. To be honest I have limited knowledge in pertaining to radios and their workings but purchased it a local auction because of its attractiveness and condition.
I will have to special order a box for the packaging. This will add a few days to the handling time.
